About Kathryn
I grew up in a wonderful, loving, hardworking family in the Black Hills of Wyoming. And when you live in the midst of such beauty, you naturally become a lover of the great outdoors, trees, wildlife, fresh air, and the homey comfort of rural America.
Following 10 years of living in the desert, college, marriage, and children, I returned to my home in the hills. At the age of 30, I became a widow and single mother of four children under the age of 8. Having already struggled for years with anxiety and then the added blow of losing my best friend, I began living in a state of internal disconnectedness and perpetual exhaustion. My nervous system was continually on high alert, leaving me to do only what was needed for survival and what gave the appearance of having my shit together.
At a particularly low point after my mother died from cancer, my children were grown, and I sat on the couch alone around Christmastime considering suicide. I was no longer enjoying my work, ironically in suicide prevention. I was a few months into the death of a difficult long-term relationship. Essentially, it took me 20 years, but I had finally reached that pivotal rock-bottom space and it was time to either choose to die, continue to slog along feeling miserable or transform myself and really start living.
More recently, my path took another sharp turn, and I became a caregiver for my youngest son after a car crash left him paraplegic. I am unbelievably grateful for the arsenal of tools and practices I have accumulated as I have put them to the test once again. By nurturing my own mind, body, and soul, along with the support of my loves, I continue to shine my light and thrive.
As you likely surmised, I made the decision to begin the journey of healing, self-love, and empowered living at my lowest point. This journey of transformation is lifelong and the basis of my writing, teaching, and signature Habits that Heal Hearts & Empower Women Program.
I feel a deep calling to share all I have learned to help other women with their own transformation, because together we are stronger and shine brighter.
